Why Cronos?
Cronos (CRO) is the native token of the Cronos Chain and Crypto.org Chain.
The largest platforms for NFT trading for example Ethereum are built on top of old blockchains. This causes the older platforms to be slower, expensive and often inaccessible due to it being buggy and the high number of scams. The Cronos blockchain solves most of these problems. Cronos is slowly becoming the fastest growing blockchain in the world. Cronos, being a part of the Crypto.com ecosystem, has additional benefits like Crypto.com’s huge marketing budget. Crypto.com has invested heavily in developing Cronos and we believe that they succeeded in making a smart chain superior to the smart chain of its competitors.
Cronos offers solutions to the existing problems from its competitors. Coinbase is easy to use, but does not have a blockchain. This means innovations are much harder as it is nearly impossible to launch new coins or easily create new utilities on Coinbase.
Binance has its own smart chain which is why it is easier to innovate. Nevertheless, Binance cannot deal with its current scale as it was never designed for this scale. As a result, Binance is not available in all of the US and US citizens are facing difficulties using Binance. US users are not blocked on Cronos, so Cronos appears to be more accessible. Since Binance was not intended to be used at such a huge scale the platform is often slow and clogged. Cronos was built for high volume, so it is rarely down or clogged. Another renowned complaint is about the (high) number of scams on Binance. Crypto.com takes more action to prevent scams by checking out products before they launch by conducting thorough smart contract audits to prevent honeypots and rugpulls. Furthermore, Crypto.com stress tests products to find bugs and errors that hackers could exploit. Compared to Cronos, Binance also calculates expensive transaction fees. Other trading platforms have similar and sometimes additional flaws.
TPS on Cronos is higher than that of Ethereum. This means that Cronos can process more transactions per minute than most base layer blockchains, which makes Cronos faster and cheaper and greener to execute smart contracts. Furthermore, Cronos (built on Ethermint) can support any smart contracts, DAOs or Dapps deployed on Ethereum.
Another Cronos-advantage is the Inter Blockchain Communications (IBC) Interoperability. Because of the enabling of the IBC Cronos is interoperable and makes seamless bridging to other IBC-enabled chains possible (e.g., Cryto.org Chain, Cosmos Hub etc.).
Cronos provides access to a massive retail user base within the Crypto.com ecosystem. This allows projects to target both DeFi natives and DeFi newcomers from the broader Crypto.com ecosystem.
Crypto.com is marketing Cronos aggressively. Crypto.com spent $700 million for naming rights to the Staples Center, which will become the Crypto.com Arena. Furthermore, Crypto.com spent a lot on television and billboard advertising in more than 20 countries and even teamed up with celebrities to promote Cronos.
