II. The Attack

Paradise Lost

Continuing from the last chapter…to answer that question, there was in fact one group that despised the Pampered Panda’s and envied their comfort and adoration. They went by ‘The Ruggers.’ Full of jealousy and hatred, they planned an attack on the Pandas’ empire, and by nightfall of one fateful night, their Province was attacked

Those that were part of the Province were forced to evacuate, filing through the forest as more and more members of the Ruggers seemed to flow in from all kinds of different passages. Those that they likely could not have known about without inside help.

In the far distance, a match was struck. Smoke began to puff out in displays of deep gray and black, the pandas speeding towards their homes, as flames grew, eventually overtaking the path towards their home. Their world was crumbling before their very eyes, and within the ashes, those that were left behind fell to a terrible fate.

The scent was horrible. A reminder of what they had lost, and with tears stinging their eyes and cries from those that were stuck in the fire, the pandas set off within the forest as the flames grew and raged. A beautiful mix of blue, orange, red, and yellow danced along the tips of the burnt bamboo and the roofs of what used to be a sanctuary, and within the chaos.. A new problem arised.

After the Ruggers finished their duty with the fire, they began to chase the pandas that were left fleeing, finding and attacking whoever laid nearest, their rage filling each stride, each motion towards their quest, the demand that had been sent out for them to complete for their pride, and reward in the end.

As the flames subsided, and the damage began to be visible from the safe-spaces many pandas had hidden within, they realized that their home, and the entirety of the forest was demolished.. And their numbers had dropped to a mere 8,888. A shell of what they used to be, only left with those around them that they barely knew.. And they needed saving.
